Self Compassion is Strength

“Compassion and Tolerance are not signs of weakness, they are signs of strength” ~ Dalai Lama

Healing and recovery challenging work, even for me!

For me (and most clients I serve) it’s because of the lack of effort it takes to heal

Being still, being present, being with thoughts, like “Am I doing is enough?" “Am I doing the right thing?”

Can drive anyone to DOING more, finding more, learning more, wondering more.

While recovering from injury, I’d of course rather be lifting, moving, running around (aka DOING the things that are “easy” and not thinking about my injury)

And then, I have to sink back into what I remind clients,

"Less is More"

Recovery works best when we allow the body to do what it does best and get out of its way.

Research is starting to show the anti-inflammatory benefits adding positive self talk and self compassion during injury recovery!

Recovery is about building tolerance towards doing the simple things

💜 Like moving in ways that nourish the body, even when the mind says “do more”

💜 Providing compassionate and loving affirmations that will allow each cell to heal and recover.

💜 Nourishing the body with whole foods

The thing is, these simple “things” are more about a “lifestyle system” and when you’re recovering from injury, most people naturally flow into their default habits.

And if your lifestyle system rarely practices these “simple” lifestyle systems, like nourishing movements, compassionate thoughts or eating whole foods

When injury happens, it’s way too difficult to change ALL of it.

These seemingly simple statements are
Easier SAID then done.

While I have a very effective system for movement during injury recovery

I used to struggle with mindset and nutrition.

Because when I was recovering, I wanted to eat easy fast food, I wanted chocolate and I’d question myself "are you really doing enough?", “are you really doing the right thing?”. Then I’d feel guilty and shame myself for eating crappy food.

It was a never ending cycle, causing illness and injury recovery to last even longer.

Now that I’ve been working on a system for the past few years, that include getting help from my own doctor and coaches.

I’ve built a tolerance for this lifestyle system that is the same whether I am healthy or whether I am sick or injured. To me, that is what True Wellness means.

It takes time, tolerance and support from the RIGHT PEOPLE (not the right things) to build simple systems during healthy times that can work during times of illness or injury.

If you're recovering from injury, I see you and you are doing amazing things allowing yourself to heal.

If you’re struggling with daily aches and pains and find it challenging to slow down your movement to allow healing and you have difficulty knowing if you are doing the right thing and find yourself on second guessing yourself.

I’m here to help support and guide you to strengthening both your body and mind during times of injury recovery.

Together we will find a system that will work for you in whatever evolutionary time of life you are in. So you can keep Evolving With Motion 💜

And remember self compassion and self tolerance is another sign of True Strength 💜
